Bolivia's Ministry of Economy and Public Finance, in coordination with the Central Bank of Bolivia, issued a public clarification confirming the full validity and legal tender status of Series B banknotes in denominations of BOB 10, BOB 20 and BOB 50, stating they continue to circulate normally. The authorities also announced an optional mechanism for exchanging Series B notes for Series A notes to address any acceptance issues. The announcement follows recovery operations after an aircraft incident on 27 February in which some banknotes were stolen, alongside voluntary returns and control actions by state institutions. The Central Bank indicated that only a marginal share of Series B notes lacks legal value, limited to the stolen pieces, which are fully identified and permanently invalidated; it also stated that the probability of invalid notes circulating is minimal. To support the exchange mechanism, Series A notes in the same denominations will be supplied to private banks by 15 March, and holders who are uncomfortable using Series B notes or face difficulties having them accepted can request immediate replacement at any financial institution or at Central Bank offices. The exchange procedure will be available from 16 March across all financial entities in the national system and at the cash desks of the Central Bank of Bolivia.
