The European Commission has opened a feedback process on draft revisions to the EU taxonomy’s technical screening criteria, aiming to simplify the framework and make it easier for market participants to use when assessing whether economic activities qualify as sustainable. The draft changes include streamlined criteria and clarifications on how compliance should be demonstrated, and would align the taxonomy criteria with updated EU legislation and better reflect technological advances. The proposals cover most activities under the Climate and Environmental Delegated Acts, including forestry and environmental protection, manufacturing, energy, transport and construction, as well as all generic ‘do no significant harm’ appendices. Feedback is open until 14 April, with input intended to inform a Commission revision of the criteria planned for adoption by the summer.
