The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Deputy Governor Dardan Fusha participated as a panellist at the Impact CEE conference, where he set out the central bank’s digital transformation priorities for Kosovo’s payments and financial infrastructure. In the panel discussion with representatives from the National Bank of Romania and Romania’s National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications, Fusha pointed to the adoption of a new Law on Payment Services and ongoing preparation of the legal framework for Kosovo’s membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) through alignment with European Union standards. He also highlighted development of a Fast Payments System in cooperation with the Bank of Italy and countries in the region, aimed at enabling faster, safer and more cost-efficient payments for citizens and businesses, with expected benefits including lower costs, easier inbound remittances and deeper financial integration with the European market. Fusha also linked digital finance to longer-term financial inclusion objectives and stressed that innovation should develop within a framework that supports stability, sustainability and consumer protection, alongside closer cooperation between financial, telecommunications and technology regulators and the private sector.
