The National Bank of Denmark published new statistics for the fourth quarter of 2025 showing that green bonds now account for 7 per cent of Danish investors’ total bond investments, up from around 2 per cent five years ago. For euro area investors, the corresponding share is 5 per cent, also up from around 2 per cent over the same period. At end-2025, Danish investors held DKK 355 billion in green bonds, while euro area investors held DKK 9,800 billion, with German and French investors holding the largest shares. The Bank noted considerable variation across individual euro area countries, with Denmark’s 7 per cent share placing it in the top quartile alongside the Netherlands, Finland, and France. Since February 2026, the National Bank of Denmark has published statistics on sustainable bonds, including green bonds, via Statbank, with quarterly nominal-value data available in tables DNSUBOI (issuances) and DNSUBOH (holdings).
