Bank of Indonesia published a festival update from FEKDI x IFSE 2025 framing “frugal” digital innovation as a practical approach to accelerate inclusive and sustainable digital transformation. Governor Perry Warjiyo positioned payment system innovation as a key pillar of the Indonesia Payment System Blueprint (BSPI) 2030, with a focus on efficiency and inclusivity, balancing innovation with risk management and consumer protection, and advancing the Digital Innovation Centre (DIC) as a collaboration platform across regulators, government, academia, research institutions and industry to strengthen globally competitive innovation and digital talent. The programme also linked frugal innovation to value chain optimisation in the agriculture and food sectors, including shorter supply chains to improve productivity and efficiency. In a session on artificial intelligence and frugal innovation, Deputy Governor Juda Agung argued for “right-tech” combinations in which AI supports analysis of financial activity and community needs while frugal innovation provides accessible channels, enabling affordable and personalised local financial services. Bank of Indonesia also announced competition outcomes, including QRIS Jelajah Budaya Indonesia 2025, which drew 8,278 entrants versus 6,618 the previous year, and the BI–OJK Hackathon 2025, which received 2,336 registrations and 743 proposals versus 457 the previous year, with themes spanning AI-enabled service exports, financial innovation for public services, and risk management and consumer protection. In closing, Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti described FEKDI x IFSE 2025 as a “Whole of Nation” collaboration led by Bank of Indonesia, OJK and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, with participation from multiple coordinating ministries, line ministries, the national planning agency and industry associations.
