The Financial Conduct Authority has brought an additional criminal charge of fraud by abuse of position against independent financial adviser Lisa Campbell, adding to existing allegations of fraud and of providing false or misleading information to the FCA to conceal wrongdoing. Campbell has pleaded not guilty and proceedings are ongoing at Portsmouth Crown Court. The latest charge relates to GBP 262,500 transferred by a long-standing client between April 2017 and August 2021, which the FCA alleges Campbell dishonestly used for her own purposes rather than investing as agreed. The FCA’s investigation began in February 2023 and it first brought criminal charges in February 2025; after Campbell’s first court appearance in May 2025, a further client reported concerns, prompting a full investigation into that case. The broader allegations cover purported misappropriation of more than GBP 2.3m between April 2013 and May 2023, including the creation of false documents to reassure clients and the provision of false documents to the FCA; Campbell was the sole director of Campbell & Associates Independent Financial Advice Ltd, an FCA-authorised advisory firm that was not authorised to hold or control client money.
