The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu met in Sarajevo with Jasmina Selimović, Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Trajko Slaveski, Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia, to review recent financial sector developments and how central banks are supporting financial education and financial inclusion across the region. The discussions also covered closer regional collaboration through exchanging best practices in financial innovation and professional training linked to education and inclusion. The counterparts highlighted Moldova’s progress in European integration, with particular reference to the country’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), which Dragu linked to faster and more secure payments in Europe at very low cost, including potentially free transactions for citizens, diaspora families and businesses. The meeting took place alongside Dragu’s participation in the annual meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s International Network on Financial Education (OECD/INFE), and the governors reaffirmed their intention to continue dialogue through international platforms, including OECD/INFE initiatives.
