The European Payments Council (EPC) Board has approved expanding the geographical scope of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) payment schemes to include the Republic of North Macedonia and Moldova, bringing total SEPA coverage to 40 countries. Once financial institutions in North Macedonia and Moldova adhere to the relevant schemes, existing participants will be able to send and receive SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT), SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst) and SEPA Direct Debit (SDD) transactions to and from scheme participants in those countries. Under the EPC calendar, adherence for financial institutions from North Macedonia and Moldova will be enabled from April 2025, with an Operational Readiness Date (ORD) for payment service providers (PSPs) set for 5 October 2025.
