Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) opened the two-day ASEAN Investment Conference (AIC) 2025 and, under its chairmanship of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF), launched the ASEAN Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide for SMEs in Supply Chains Version 1 (ASEAN SEDG) to support small and medium-sized enterprises in meeting environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting requirements. AIC 2025, themed “Connecting Capital, Unlocking Opportunities and Driving Sustainability”, brought together more than 700 policymakers, investors, bankers and capital market participants and was hosted by the SC with AFFIN Group, CGS International Securities Malaysia and RHB Banking Group. Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim delivered the opening keynote and held a closed-door breakfast with global fund managers representing combined assets under management of over USD 8 trillion. Conference discussions covered regional responses to the impact of US tariffs, promoting intra-ASEAN trade, sector growth in areas such as artificial intelligence and green energy, deeper financial integration through fintech innovation and digital banking, and stronger partnerships with China, Japan and South Korea. The ASEAN SEDG was positioned as a practical step-by-step guide for SMEs in supply chains and aligned with ASEAN Vision 2040.
