The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has advised that the commemorative Grenada 50-dollar banknote is legal tender and can be used for standard and over-the-counter business transactions across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. The polymer note was issued in July 2024 in collaboration with the Government of Grenada to mark Grenada’s 50th Independence anniversary. Although issued exclusively in Grenada, it can be used in all eight ECCB member countries: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The banknote is the same size and has similar security features as current notes in circulation, and includes portraits of former Prime Ministers Sir Eric Matthew Gairy and Maurice Bishop.
