In remarks at the Military Banking Summit, Comptroller of the Currency Jonathan V. Gould called for a regulatory and supervisory framework that enables military and community banks of different sizes to serve customers, manage risks and grow responsibly. He did not announce new regulatory measures, but placed military focused institutions within the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s broader emphasis on reducing unnecessary burdens for community banks. Gould highlighted these institutions’ role in helping service members and their families navigate permanent changes of station, home purchases and transitions to civilian life. He said the OCC’s Community Bank Comeback must include banks committed to military communities, building on the agency’s recent focus on supervision tailored to banks’ size, complexity and risk.
