The Ministry of Finance (United Arab Emirates) reported that Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini held a series of bilateral meetings with finance ministers and senior international officials on the sidelines of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Washington, DC. The discussions focused on expanding financial cooperation and exchanging views on fiscal and taxation issues of mutual interest. Engagements covered counterparts from the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Argentina, Switzerland and Norway. In talks with US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, held in the presence of Central Bank of the UAE Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama, discussions covered strengthening strategic cooperation across financial and economic sectors and the UAE’s participation as a guest country in the G20 finance track under US leadership. With Argentina’s Minister of Finance Luis Caputo, the exchange referenced the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement in force since November 2024 and the existing Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement as frameworks supporting investment and clearer tax treatment. The meeting with Switzerland’s State Secretary for International Finance Daniela Stoffel included a focus on enhancing regulatory coordination and strengthening institutional linkages, alongside broader cooperation discussions with France, the UK, Canada and Norway.
