The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, in collaboration with Capital Market Infrastructure Institutions, organized the first International Capital Market Conference and Expo 2025 in Karachi, convening regulators, market institutions, practitioners, international delegates and academia around the theme of regional integration and innovation in capital markets. Alongside the conference, an expo was held to engage the public and support investor education. Remarks and sessions covered regional connectivity and alignment with global capital market practices, the role of diversified capital markets in sustainable growth and financial stability, and recent reforms to trading infrastructure. Panel discussions addressed harmonized regulation and regional cooperation, reforms to deepen equity and debt participation including retail access and new instruments, the impact of digitization including fintech and AI, commodity market development including electronic warehouse receipts and collateral management, and pension reforms aimed at more transparent and sustainable retirement systems. International speakers included the Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong, P.R. China on digital asset regulation, and an academic session on pathways for cross-border connectivity and financial innovation. The second day of the conference will be hosted at the Pakistan Stock Exchange, where international delegates will participate in a gong ceremony.
