The Croatian National Bank organised an Open Doors Day attended by more than 1,000 citizens, combining public tours and educational workshops to explain the central bank’s work and key euro area topics. Visitors toured the Round Hall in the CNB’s main building, which previously served as the main hall of the former Zagreb Stock and Commodity Exchange, and attended sessions on money management, euro banknotes and counterfeit identification. Programming also covered how European Central Bank monetary policy is transmitted to Croatia and the lifecycle of cash from design to recycling, alongside children’s workshops. Governor Boris Vujčić and Deputy Governor Sandra Švaljek met with students and other attendees, with lectures on monetary policy decision-making and the European Central Bank’s Governing Council, and on the digital euro, followed by a public discussion.
