The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation Hub has launched Project AISE (Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Enhancer) to develop a flexible AI-driven toolkit to support financial supervisors as regulatory oversight becomes more complex. The initiative explores a “supervisory virtual assistant” that supervisors could use on-site or off-site. Project AISE is intended to improve supervisory efficiency by reducing manual workload and providing faster insights to support analysis, risk identification and response. The toolkit is designed to help supervisors handle large volumes of data, streamline research tasks and strengthen decision-making, while also supporting knowledge transfer by embedding best practices to aid onboarding as supervisory teams evolve. The project is led by the BIS Innovation Hub’s Toronto Innovation Centre, combining expertise in AI, financial regulation and supervisory methodologies.
