The Central Bank of Peru reported that non-traditional fisheries exports totalled USD 275 million in May, up 123.5% from the same month a year earlier. For January to May 2025, export sales reached USD 938 million, an increase of 66.9% year on year. The May result was mainly driven by a 102% rise in export volumes, supported by greater availability of pota biomass linked to more food in its habitat. Shipments of frozen and canned pota increased by 324.6% and 271.7%, respectively, while international pota prices stayed high due to limited Peruvian supply last year, with frozen and canned pota prices rising 33.9% and 40.5%. Over January to May, growth reflected higher volumes (up 39.8%) and higher prices (up 19.4%).
