The Central Bank of Peru published data showing that Peru’s non-traditional agricultural exports totalled USD 720 million in April, a 46.5% year-on-year increase from USD 491 million, driven by a 58.2% rise in shipped volumes. Growth was mainly linked to higher shipments of avocados, pomegranates, mangoes and mandarins, reflecting a recovery in production compared with the prior year, when development was affected by adverse climatic conditions in 2023. The value of cocoa preparation exports also increased by USD 29 million versus April last year, in line with higher production. Over January to April, non-traditional agricultural exports reached USD 3,469 million, up 29.2% from USD 2,685 million, supported by a 36.1% increase in volumes.
