The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) launched a 28–30 October 2025 seminar in Manama, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), focused on strengthening public–private cooperation to improve implementation of targeted financial sanctions linked to terrorism financing and proliferation financing. The programme centres on improving dialogue and information-sharing between competent authorities, financial institutions and designated non-financial businesses and professions (DNFBPs), and discusses the key characteristics of effective public–private partnerships, sector roles and responsibilities, and private-sector compliance challenges. It also covers digital tools to support monitoring, detection and reporting, the use of beneficial ownership registers to strengthen sanctions enforcement, the latest Financial Action Task Force (FATF) guidance on proliferation financing risk assessment and mitigation, and national and regional experiences in implementing targeted financial sanctions frameworks.
