The Central Bank of Slovenia issued a public warning that the Nevakred website is falsely claiming to be a credit institution authorised by the central bank. It cautioned that transactions conducted via the site are not subject to supervision by competent authorities, leaving consumers exposed to increased risks and potential fraud. Under Slovenian legislation, credit institutions must hold authorisation from the Central Bank of Slovenia or another euro area central bank to operate, and the central bank urged consumers to verify firms’ status via its register of supervised entities. It stated that Nevakred’s claims breach the Banking Act, the Consumer Credit Act and the Consumer Protection Act, and advised consumers who have already transacted with the entity to contact the Market Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia or the police. The Central Bank of Slovenia said it will take action in line with its powers.
