The Jordan Securities Commission held an educational workshop at its headquarters, in cooperation with Princess Sumaya University of Technology, focused on blockchain technology and virtual assets. The session was positioned as part of the Commission’s engagement with newly approved Jordanian legislation covering digitisation and trading in virtual assets, alongside trading in foreign and local stock exchanges. Delivered by the university’s cybersecurity specialist, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Moussa Al-Nabhan, the workshop covered blockchain architecture and governance, including the shift from centralised to decentralised records and the distinction between public networks such as Bitcoin and Ethereum and permissioned networks such as Hyperledger Fabric. It also reviewed key virtual asset concepts and token types, including fungible and non-fungible tokens, utility and security tokens, governance tokens, stablecoins, central bank digital currencies, cryptocurrencies and payment instruments, as well as tokenisation processes, wallets, and related benefits and challenges, before highlighting MENA and Jordan use cases including MODEE DLT, SANAD TrnLog and AcChain.
