Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) issued a fraud alert warning that unknown individuals are using the name, image and data of VALOREX, S.A. de C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R. to offer supposed “immediate” loans via social media and messaging apps. The scheme involves collecting personal information and demanding advance deposits labelled as fees such as commissions, verification or loan activation, after which the promised credit is not granted. CONDUSEF highlighted that VALOREX primarily provides vehicle acquisition financing and only exceptionally personal loans, typically reaching customers through referrals from car dealerships and via direct contact with its offices or by telephone under formal credit assessment processes. It advised users to verify an institution’s registration and details in CONDUSEF’s SIPRES and to treat any request for upfront payments outside official channels as a red flag, including avoiding transfers to personal accounts, refraining from paying before signing a formal contract, and not sharing personal or financial data through social networks or messaging applications.
