The Central Bank of Bolivia reaffirmed the continued use of its published US dollar reference value, describing it as an informational indicator aimed at transparency and statistical dissemination that does not change the nature, scope or mandatory character of the official exchange rate. Published since 1 December 2025, the reference value is calculated from actual US dollar purchase and sale transactions conducted by Financial Intermediation Entities (EIF) with households and firms. During 2025, 2,183,305 external transactions totaling USD 13,762 million were recorded, which the central bank cited as supporting the indicator’s representativeness and its role in unifying previously differing market quotations. From 2026, the reference selling value for external transactions will equal the reference buying value plus the commissions charged by the central bank for overseas fund transfers with the corresponding cash US dollar deposit, in line with the quotations table approved on 31 December 2025; daily transaction amounts conducted by banks will also be published alongside the reference buying value.
