The Superintendency of Banks of Panama participated in the ordinary meeting of the Central American Council of Superintendents of Banks, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, held on June 18 and 19 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The session served as a regional technical coordination forum for financial supervisors and focused on strengthening modern and coordinated supervisory frameworks in response to current financial system challenges, with discussions centered on cybersecurity as a core element of operational resilience, model risk, and the growing impact of artificial intelligence on banking supervision. Representatives from the supervisory authorities of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia and Ecuador also took part, reinforcing the meeting's role as a platform for technical cooperation on regional financial stability. Panama's delegation was led by Superintendent Milton Ayón Wong and included Kathy de Guardia, director of International Affairs and Projects, and Luis Barahona, director of Financial Conglomerates Supervision.
