The Bank of Finland published a recap of the inaugural Helsinki Euro Coin Conference held on 5–6 February 2026, which convened European experts to discuss euro coin cash supply and the prevention of counterfeiting, with a focus on the need for sustained cross-border cooperation. Opened by Jussi Kangas, Head of Cash at the Bank of Finland, the programme covered the European Technical and Scientific Centre’s work analysing euro coins, the Royal Dutch Mint’s activities, coin-counterfeiting prevention from Italy’s police authorities, and coin sorting processes presented by Spain’s central bank. Further sessions addressed the EU legislative framework via the European Commission and included contributions from the central banks of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland.
