The Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission has filed criminal complaints with the Economic Crime Suppression Division against Bitazza International Limited (Bitazza Global), Bitazza Co., Ltd., Bitazza’s former Chief Executive Officer Kavin Phongpandecha, and current Chief Executive Officer Tanawat Sutuntivorakoon for allegedly jointly operating a digital asset exchange business without a licence under Thailand’s Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses. The SEC also issued an investor alert and initiated action to block public access to the Bitazza Global platform. The SEC’s probe found that Bitazza Global and Bitazza, a licensed digital asset broker, provided a platform for trading or exchanging digital assets and collected fees, while promoting and soliciting Thai users in the Thai language, including offering services exclusively to clients residing in Thailand. Bitazza is also alleged to have enabled access to Bitazza Global through its website and application, treated registrants as Bitazza Global account holders without a separate identity verification process, and provided core operational systems to Bitazza Global; the SEC characterised this as joint operation of an unlicensed exchange business, with executive liability for the responsible persons. Following the complaints, the case proceeds through investigation, prosecution and court adjudication, with the SEC monitoring and supporting enforcement. Separately, the SEC has submitted information to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to the Bitazza Global platform under Thailand’s technology-related crime measures, with public access set to be disabled from 22 March 2026; users were advised to take action regarding assets held on the platform before the block takes effect.
