The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has disqualified Anthony Azizi of Bexley, NSW from managing corporations for five years following his involvement in the failure of three construction industry companies. The disqualification runs until 14 July 2030. Between January 2001 and September 2021, Azizi was a director of Trinity Constructions (Aust) Pty Ltd and Regal Consulting Services Pty Ltd, and ASIC was satisfied he acted as a director of Trinco Pty Ltd as a shadow director. At the time of ASIC’s decision, the three companies owed a combined total of AUD 93,708,563 to over 300 unsecured creditors, including statutory debts to the Australian Taxation Office and other government agencies. ASIC found he failed to meet director obligations including statutory lodgements, record-keeping, preventing insolvent trading, lodging a Report on Company Activities and Property within 10 days of Regal’s winding up, and providing books and reasonable assistance to Regal’s liquidator. Azizi may seek review of ASIC’s decision by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
