The Central Bank of Estonia has opened its annual economic research award competition dedicated to the memory of Urmas Sepp, inviting eligible master’s and doctoral-level researchers to submit work for consideration. The competition is open to students in Estonian universities undertaking master’s or doctoral studies, as well as economists who completed a master’s or doctoral degree within the past four years. Economists studying at, or graduated from, foreign universities may also enter if they have ties to Estonia. In 2025 the award will be granted in two categories: EUR 3,000 for research leading to a PhD thesis or conducted as part of doctoral studies, and EUR 2,000 for research leading to a master’s dissertation or conducted as part of a master’s course. Entry documents must be submitted by 15 September 2025, and results will be announced by 31 October 2025 at the latest. The Central Bank of Estonia may decide not to grant the award if none of the submissions meet the required quality threshold.
