The Bank of Spain has published an expression of interest to fill the post of Director General of Economy, setting out the role’s responsibilities and candidate requirements and inviting applications by 13 June at 2:00 p.m. The Directorate General of Economics covers economic monitoring, modelling and forecasting, analytical studies and policy positions, and external communication, including advising the Governor on monetary policy as a member of the European Central Bank Governing Council, producing medium-term macroeconomic projections for Spain, and drafting the Annual Report and related publications. The Director General is expected to set the Directorate’s strategy and analytical framework, ensure it contributes to euro area monetary policy, represent the Bank in internal and external fora and act as the Governor’s alternate in ECB monetary policy meetings, and co-manage planning and resourcing with the Deputy Director General. Candidates are expected to have at least 20 years’ professional experience, including at least 10 years in managerial roles related to economic research and monetary analysis, preferably in central banking or European or international institutions, and a strong command of spoken and written Spanish. Applications must include a CV and motivation letter submitted in both Spanish and English, with appointment made by the Executive Commission on the Governor’s proposal and ratified by the Governing Council.
