The Central Bank of Bolivia has signed a memorandum of understanding with El Salvador’s National Commission of Digital Assets (CNAD) to promote mutual cooperation and the exchange of information and expertise on digital assets, including cryptoassets used for international transactions. The MoU commits both institutions to share technical and regulatory experience on topics including digital asset traceability, use of blockchain intelligence tools, and risk analysis within their respective mandates. The Central Bank of Bolivia linked the cooperation to rapid growth in the domestic use of virtual assets, reporting an increase from USD 46.5 million in June 2024 to USD 294 million in June 2025, following the entry into force of R.D. No. 082/2024. The agreement was signed by CNAD President Juan Carlos Reyes García and the Acting President of the Central Bank of Bolivia, Dr Edwin Rojas Ulo. The MoU entered into effect upon signature and is open-ended.
