The Philippines’ Department of Finance and global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. Inc. (KKR) are exploring financing opportunities for priority projects under the Luzon Economic Corridor. In a meeting with Finance Undersecretary Ma. Angela E. Ignacio, KKR Global Institute Partner and Chairman General David H. Petraeus expressed interest in expanding the firm’s investment portfolio in the Philippines. Discussions covered investment opportunities in infrastructure, energy and digital services, alongside healthcare, education and advanced manufacturing. Ignacio reviewed the corridor’s progress in attracting partners for artificial intelligence infrastructure, information and communications technology, and energy. KKR executives emphasized the importance of sustained investment in human capital and infrastructure, together with policies supporting long-term financing. KKR already has more than USD 2 billion in assets under management deployed in the Philippines, including investments in digital finance, infrastructure and essential services. The government has previously passed reforms covering corporate tax incentives, public-private partnerships, investor leases, strategic investment approvals and rights of way to support investment.
