The Chile Financial Market Commission has opened a call for the academic community to submit research projects on topics within its supervisory mandate, with the stated aim of supporting analysis and public debate while strengthening the technical and professional capabilities of CMF researchers. The call covers three main research lines: financial system stability, client and depositor protection, and market development. Indicative topics include the depth of Chile’s financial system and measures to boost it, sustainable finance, implementation of the Fintech Act and the Open Finance System, the role of financial information and education in decision-making, regulatory impact assessment, and research using regional statistics for Chile’s financial sector. Proposals must comply with the conditions in Annex 1 of the CMF policy governing publication of non-regular documents and institutional reports and studies with external researchers, include at least one CMF researcher to be designated internally, and target an output of at least one document comparable in quality to an academic journal article. The CMF Editorial Committee will evaluate proposals primarily against Commission priorities and available institutional and strategic resources. Applicants are to be notified of approval or rejection within 20 business days after the submission deadline, and approved projects will proceed via a formal agreement that explicitly provides for no payments to researchers and no expenditure by the CMF.
