Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission published updated figures on domestic banks’ lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), reporting outstanding SME loans of NT$10,266.8bn at end-November 2024, up NT$0.1bn from end-October 2024. SME loans accounted for 64.55% of total loans to enterprises and 68.21% of total loans to private enterprises, increases of 0.35 and 0.38 percentage points respectively versus end-October 2024. The average non-performing loan ratio for SME loans was 0.24% in November 2024, down 0.01 percentage points from end-October, while the FSC reiterated its encouragement for banks to expand SME lending alongside risk control and management.
