The Bank of France and the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (ACPR) issued a public warning after individuals reported receiving emails, letters and phone calls from people claiming to be from the Bank of France and requesting financial information related to crypto-asset investments. The authorities said the approach relies on identity impersonation of Bank of France staff, with fraudsters pressuring victims to move to a confidential telephone exchange. They emphasised that the Bank of France and its agents will never ask for bank account details, sensitive personal information, or the validation or cancellation of a banking transaction by phone, whether from individuals or businesses, and urged the public to verify communications and use official Bank of France channels if in doubt.
