The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia reported that its head, Davit Onoprishvili, participated in a high-level international seminar for insurance supervisors in the People’s Republic of China, which focused on international standards and supervisory approaches relevant to insurers. The two-day workshop covered International Association of Insurance Supervisors and Financial Stability Board standards and topics including capital, resolution regimes, climate-related risks, reinsurance, and oversight of financial innovation. Discussions also addressed the macroeconomic impact on the insurance sector, including the effects of interest rate fluctuations on insurers and financial stability linkages between banking and insurance. During the visit, Onoprishvili held bilateral meetings with IAIS Secretary General Jonot Dixon and senior officials from peer supervisory authorities to discuss cooperation formats and planned future activities. The April 22–23 seminar in Shanghai was organised by the Bank for International Settlements’ Institute for Financial Stability, the IAIS and China’s National Financial Regulatory Administration.
