Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Environment and Central Bank of Uruguay have opened pre-registration for the country’s first dedicated climate finance certificate. The program aims to strengthen the ability of financial, public and productive-sector professionals to direct resources toward national climate priorities and integrate climate and sustainability factors into decision-making. The 60-hour certificate comprises nine weekly modules covering climate risk management, sustainable finance instruments, public policy, international frameworks, and measurement and reporting standards. Participants will apply the material by developing a climate finance proposal and will also learn to identify gender gaps and apply climate funds’ gender requirements. The first cohort has 40 places and training begins Sept. 26. The program is funded by the Green Climate Fund, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme Uruguay and delivered through the Sustainable Universities Network with instructors from five Uruguayan universities and international specialists. Pre-registration closes Sept. 14.
