The Central Bank of the Philippines issued an alert urging the public to exercise caution when dealing with individuals or organisations that misuse the central bank’s name, logo, or the names of its personnel, highlighting a case involving an entity calling itself “UNA Financing Corporation”. It reiterated that, in performing its official functions, it does not solicit money, request personal or financial information, or offer investment opportunities or loans to the public. On 05 May 2025, the central bank issued a public advisory against the entity for using the BSP’s logo and names of BSP personnel without authorisation. The legitimate UNA Financing Corporation registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission has separately clarified it is not connected with the misrepresentation, which is fraudulently using its corporate name. Following a meeting, the central bank and the SEC-registered UNA agreed to intensify collaboration to protect the public, and the matter was referred to the Securities and Exchange Commission for verification and investigation in June 2025, with further coordination with other authorities as needed.
