The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA), through its Central Zone office, delivered training to district medical officers from Iringa Council focused on core insurance issues, including implementation of the Universal Health Insurance Act (Chapter 161). The session aimed to build participants’ understanding of the law and their responsibilities in implementing it within health service delivery points, as part of a system intended to ensure all Tanzanians can access quality, affordable and sustainable healthcare through insurance. The training involved around 100 health facilities under Iringa Council and included discussions on strengthening cooperation between the health and insurance sectors. TIRA also reported that more than 180 facilities have been formally registered and recognised to provide services under the Universal Health Insurance scheme, and that ongoing outreach will continue in collaboration with public and private institutions.
