Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Finance reported that a regional scientific and practical conference on improving anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) systems in the Eurasian region was held in Bishkek to mark the 20th anniversary of the State Service for Financial Intelligence of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event brought together financial intelligence departments, law enforcement and supervisory authorities from Eurasian Group member states and concluded with the signing of a roadmap on risk assessment between the heads of the State Financial Intelligence Service and the International Training and Methodological Center for Financial Monitoring. Discussions focused on effective Eurasian Group practices in AML/CFT, mechanisms for cooperation between law enforcement and regulators with academia and the private sector, and prospects for regional financial security. Ivan Uvarov, Director General of the International Training and Methodological Center for Financial Monitoring, emphasised practice-oriented training and noted that Kyrgyzstan is among the first countries to undergo a new round of mutual evaluation within the Eurasian Group; the Center indicated it would prioritise cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and hold training events for financial intelligence specialists. The conference was attended by representatives of the Eurasian Group Secretariat, the International Network Institute’s universities, international organisations, government agencies, the private sector and foreign experts, and took place ahead of the Eurasian Group’s third round of mutual evaluation.
