The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted a multi-stakeholder workshop to advance the integration of financial education into Bosnia and Herzegovina’s formal education system, positioning the project as part of its broader effort to improve financial literacy. Participants included representatives of public economic faculties, the Association of Banks of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Insurance Supervisory Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and insurance sector associations. The workshop featured an introductory lecture by Prof. Annamaria Lusardi of Stanford University, who highlighted financial literacy as a life skill and referenced the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s inclusion of financial literacy in the Programme for International Student Assessment since 2012, alongside examples from Italy and the United States. In the working session, participants developed an action plan and guidelines, identifying priorities, challenges, and steps needed for successful integration into the education system. The workshop concluded with a call to intensify cooperation between educational institutions, regulators, and the financial sector to support implementation and future activities.
