The General Council of Sweden's Riksbank has initiated an open recruitment process for a new member of the Riksbank’s Executive Board to replace Anna Breman and has appointed Aino Bunge as the new First Deputy Governor. Anna Breman is being relieved of her role as Executive Board member and First Deputy Governor at her own request with effect from 11 October 2025, leaving the Executive Board with four members until a successor takes office. The recruitment will follow the application procedure required under the Sveriges Riksbank Act, supported by an approved requirements profile and an advertisement; only Swedish citizens are eligible and the role is security-classified with pre-employment security vetting and a register check. The requirements profile highlights, among other competencies, very strong knowledge of financial markets and the monetary policy framework, high analytical capacity, integrity, and an ability to communicate clearly in Swedish and English. The presidium of the General Council has been tasked with taking the recruitment process forward with support from the Council’s secretariat. Expressions of interest and CVs are due by 26 October 2025, with the start date to be agreed, and confidentiality applies to information that could identify individual candidates.
