The Astana Financial Services Authority has issued an alert about an individual presenting himself as Nurlan Asilbekov, whose true identity is unknown, allegedly promoting financial services through a private Telegram channel using a forged AFSA licence. The forged document purports to be licence No. AFSA-G-LA-2023-0004, which AFSA issued to Bybit Limited to conduct the market activity of Operator of a Digital Asset Trading Facility. AFSA noted that the forged licence includes the individual’s name, which does not appear on authentic AFSA licences, and reiterated that it does not grant licences to natural persons, only to legal entities. AFSA urged the public to verify authorisation through its Public Register and noted Bybit Limited’s website tool for checking the authenticity of Bybit sources, warning that dealings with unauthorised persons are at the public’s own risk and may not be protected under the Astana International Financial Centre legal and regulatory framework.
