The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announced it will host its 2025 Summer National Meeting on 10–13 August in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as a hybrid event bringing together state insurance regulators, industry stakeholders, and other interested parties to discuss current and emerging insurance issues. The meeting is positioned around advancing regulatory priorities on consumer protection, access and affordability, market stability, and broader financial stability considerations. Discussion will focus on how regulators are adapting tools, policies, and oversight strategies for a rapidly evolving market, with participation from regulators representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. Key topics include climate resilience and catastrophe modeling, health insurance reform and managed care oversight, cybersecurity and consumer data privacy, risk-based capital, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and persistent protection gaps; NAIC President and North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on 11 August with updates on the NAIC’s 2025 priorities. Also on 11 August, the NAIC Center for Insurance Policy and Research will host a special session from 3:30 to 5:00 PM CDT titled “The U.S. Health Care Financing System for 2026: Trends and Implications for Consumers and the States,” examining how rising health care costs, policy changes, and market disruptions could affect consumers, state governments, and insurance regulators.
