Poland's Ministry of Finance reported that the General Inspector of Financial Information (GIIF) took part in the 4th conference for cooperating units on applying the AML Act provisions related to the Central Register of Beneficial Owners (CRBR), held in Bydgoszcz on 6–8 October 2025. In remarks at the event, GIIF Jarosław Żółtowski presented the CRBR as a tool to increase transparency in economic activity and support public authorities and the financial sector in tackling abuse, while pointing to the need to strengthen the AML/CFT system through IT modernisation, continuity and security of access, and implementation of new EU rules on data access based on the “legitimate interest” principle. The GIIF’s stated priorities included improving data quality and consistency, enabling national and international interoperability, maintaining the highest cybersecurity standards, and making the system more user-friendly. Deputy Director Elżbieta Franków-Jaskiewicz highlighted the cross-border dimension of beneficial owner identification, and discussions covered practical approaches to implementing the EU AML package, cooperation among EU beneficial owner registers, harmonising data scope and formats, mechanisms to verify discrepancies, and institutional cooperation and compatibility of registry solutions across Europe, as well as the role of trust and company service providers under FATF standards and practical methods to trace crypto flows using publicly available analytical tools.
