The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority organised a field outreach tour in Assiut Governorate, led by its training arm the Financial Services Institute, to explain how citizens can make use of non-banking financial services. The programme focused on raising awareness of microfinance and microinsurance as tools to support existing microenterprises and encourage new projects. Workshops addressed sustainability and climate change impacts on agricultural production, alongside sustainable finance mechanisms, with a focus on carbon certificates as an innovative financing tool for farmers. Participants raised questions on access to funding, protections within non-banking financial markets, and the Authority’s role in regulation and consumer protection, which the delegation addressed directly. The visit also included a coordination meeting with Al-Afdal Association to discuss improving services for farmers and strengthening staff capabilities through specialised training in non-banking finance, and child-focused activities distributing FRA booklets designed to introduce saving and financial planning concepts. The Authority positioned the Assiut tour as part of an expected series of field visits across Egypt’s governorates aimed at expanding direct citizen engagement and awareness of non-banking financial services.
