The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published guidance warning that fraudsters use psychological manipulation to mislead citizens and gain access to their money and personal data, noting that students, pensioners, working citizens and investors can all be targeted regardless of education or professional background. The alert highlights common techniques such as manufacturing urgency and anxiety to force immediate decisions, including demands for an “urgent transfer”, pressure that a “chance will be missed”, or claims that an operation must be confirmed immediately. It also points to emotional pressure tactics, such as messages about alleged unauthorised bank transactions or legal violations, requests to help a “relative in trouble”, or offers of easy income. The agency advises the public not to trust unknown online contacts, not to share personal or payment card details, not to follow suspicious links, and to verify information through official channels; if there is any doubt, citizens should stop the conversation even if the caller claims to represent law enforcement, a ministry or the regulator, and remember that financial and legal issues are not resolved via phone calls or messaging apps.
