The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority reported its participation in the 48th General Meeting of the Committee of Insurance, Securities and Non-Banking Financial Authorities (CISNA) in Maun, Botswana, which brings together Southern African Development Community (SADC) regulators to align regulatory frameworks and promote implementation of international standards for non-bank financial services. The programme includes sessions of three subcommittees covering capital markets, insurance and retirement funds, medical schemes and intermediaries, and microfinance and financial co-operatives, alongside Governance Council and General Council meetings. Agenda items include proposed amendments to the CISNA Rules, such as granting the host country of the Secretariat a permanent seat on the Governance Council, approval of CISNA’s budget and financial statements, and implementation of the CISNA Strategy 2022–2026; the meeting was formally opened by Botswana’s Vice President and includes participation from the SADC Secretariat and other regional bodies. Tanzania is represented by the Insurance Commissioner and senior TIRA officials responsible for planning and market development, licensing and distribution, and insurance assessment and financial stability.
