The British Columbia Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) and Greater Vancouver Realtors (GVR) have entered an information-sharing partnership intended to strengthen data-driven regulatory oversight while reducing reporting burden for real estate professionals. Under the arrangement, BCFSA will receive access to real estate transaction data in the GVR area to support trend identification, monitoring of the impacts of regulatory requirements, and earlier intervention into systemic risks. In return for streamlined access to transaction-level data, GVR will receive on-demand access to BCFSA licensing data. GVR member brokerages and managing brokers will also be exempt from submitting residential real estate transaction data for properties listed and sold within the region as part of BCFSA’s 2026 Data Call, while still having to submit data for sold listings outside the GVR area and information on the use of the Home Buyer Rescission Period (HBRP). The 2026 Data Call will otherwise continue province-wide and will introduce new commission-related fields to help BCFSA understand how real estate services are delivered, including how much consumers pay for real estate services in British Columbia. The partnership is being tested as a pilot before any decision on broader rollout across British Columbia, and BCFSA will engage with other real estate boards and the British Columbia Real Estate Association to pursue more comprehensive, streamlined data sharing across the province.
