The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) took part in the Estadão Summit ESG 2025 in São Paulo, with Director Jéssica Bastos contributing to debates on sustainability and governance and arguing that Brazil has a current window of opportunity to advance the ESG agenda. Bastos joined the panel on the political backlash against ESG and the dismantling of governance, alongside Deloitte ESG lead Maria Emília Peres, Fundação Dom Cabral professor Fernanda Claudino and Grupo Globo’s Director of Risk and Compliance Carolina Bueno, moderated by Estadão journalist Luciana Dyniewicz. She linked the opportunity to perceived alignment between government, regulators and the market, while the wider event agenda covered energy transition and a low-carbon economy, integration of social responsibility and corporate diversity practices, innovation in sustainability reporting, and the role of compliance and transparency for investors and stakeholders; additional featured participants included senior representatives from Brazil’s Ministry of Finance and BNDES.
