The Bank of Israel has opened a call for candidates for Director of its Information Technology Department and appointed a search committee to identify suitable applicants. The committee is chaired by Dr. Adi Brender (Director of the Research Department) and includes Ms. Lena Krupalnick (Director of the Citizens of Israel Fund at the Bank of Israel) and Dr. Amiram (Ami) Appelbaum (former Head of the Innovation Authority and Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Economy and Industry). The role is framed as leading the Bank’s digital and technological strategy, including information security, innovation, operational efficiency and compliance with central bank-grade regulation. Responsibilities include setting technology policy, managing systems and infrastructure (including software development and technology projects), driving digital transformation (including AI and cloud), managing cyber risks and technology regulation, and overseeing suppliers, budgets and technology human resources. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field, a Master’s degree in a relevant technology or management field (or public policy), at least 10 years’ experience managing information systems in a large organisation including at least five years in a senior management role, and experience with regulation, cybersecurity and information security standards. Applications are due by November 13, 2025; the committee may apply additional criteria and selection tools (including external assessment centres) and may also approach candidates who have not applied. The appointment will be on a personal contract for a five-year term.
