The National Bank of Georgia reported that Vice Governor Ekaterine Galdava met representatives of the National Bank of Poland to review National Bank of Poland-supported projects developed for the NBG, with a focus on a “twinning” programme on payment systems and services. The programme is intended to strengthen the NBG’s capacity in supervision and payment oversight and has supported Georgia’s adoption and implementation of a legislative framework aligned with European Union directives, enabling the NBG to apply for Georgia’s membership in the Single European Payments Area. The National Bank of Poland delegation provided an update on the current state of Poland’s payment systems and their ongoing development, and both sides signalled a willingness to continue support and cooperation. The Georgian delegation also participated in the European Association of Clearing Houses forum, which brought together payment sector representatives from 29 European countries and covered instant payments, implementation challenges, and the use of artificial intelligence in monitoring systems to enhance fraud detection and prevention; the NBG has been an EACHA member since 2023.
